Gas prices....LOL

I saw this video on CNN last weekend while I was sitting inside a McDonalds at Lake Arrowhead, and I thought it was pretty funny. At the same time, though, it's ridiculous how high gas prices have gotten. I still remember traveling cross-country on a roadtrip when i was about 10 years old and seeing places that had gas prices under $1.00/gallon.

Why is it that the executives at the big oil companies such as Exxon-Mobil and Shell have been making record profits in recent years while gas has become less and less affordable for all Americans? It's pretty scary to think about what gas prices will be like in another 10 years. Will we eventually reach $7, $8 per gallon? How bout $10 per gallon?

If there's one thing I really like about McCain, it's got to be his Summer Gas Tax Holiday. Too bad summer doesn't last forever though :(

This definitely does not make me want to LOL. But on the bright side, maybe it will teach americans to become environmental friendly -- such as walking, riding a bike, taking the bus, etc.

Seriously, our nation needs to get out of this recession and strengthen the value of the dollar bill!

With gas as low as it was for so long (under a $1 like you said), Americans have only been encouraged to use cars, leaving the American public transportation minimal compared to other countries. We're so spoiled, I know I am. I drive almost everywhere. I think the last time I used public transportation was when I was in Australia. So, maybe our lifestyle will shift more towards that of the Europeans. Higher gas prices, smaller cars, more walking, biking, and use of buses/trains.

I agree that our gas prices are out of control. Everyone should have a tiny car, sort of like those in France. Also, we definitely need better public transportation.
